Monsters all around me!

My studio is PACKED with work this month!!!

For starters I’m prepping for a show June 4th at Liberty Street Brewery in Plymouth, Mi (will update with flyer ASAP), then shortly following that I have 3 craft fairs and another gallery spotlight. I’m not even going to get into the line up for July…let’s just say I foresee the birth of many tens of amazing new creatures, and even more long, caffeine fueled nights with paintbrush in hand.

I’ve also been devoting several hours a day to a custom sculpture piece for a friend of mine in Ypsi. I’m trying to be all sneaky about it, and not reveal the progress to anyone until the leviathan is completed. It is INCREDIBLE; basically it’s a giant carved concrete monster built over and into a mailbox. Nothing like advertising your incredible taste for the bizarre from the road!!!

I feel so incredibly privileged that I am able to stay so busy in the city of Detroit. If I haven’t stated before…I FRICKIN LOVE THIS CITY!!! ❤

Here are a few links to my Etsy and my FaceBook,  below are a few pics of fresh work from the lab!

Fresh work coming and studio development

As of recent I’ve been tearing out nails, reinforcing shelves, and giving everything in the downstairs studio a fresh coat of paint. I’d say it looks rather pleasant now (especially compared to how it was before), though there are less magnifying instruments than I usually like to have. For the first time in my life I don’t have room for many of my pictures, books, or toys to lie around haphazardly all over my desk. With so much work on the “to do” list, I need to keep my eyes focused on paint and leave space for my gunked up screwdrivers and red bull cans. This must be a sigh of my maturity, I’m going to have to put my trinkets on the shelves upstairs like everyone else…ugh, lol.

Here’s a couple pics of the studio so far…I’m sure in a couple of weeks it will feel more like home!!

Ahhh…May. We meet again.

Yikes. I can’t believe it’s May already!

I guess when your deep underground obsessing over shades of teal and octopi, the world passes you by rather quickly, lol.

In truth I’ve been up to MUCH more that that this year. I moved into and up-cycled a live/work place downtown. Hosted a monster bash. Participated in several art shows (some of which are still going on), and added a few notches to my artistic belt. Not to mention I still have to grow a small human and grown man simultaneously!

*sigh*

I’m not complaining. Life is good.

Anyways, this month should be pretty exciting. I’ve got a full production schedule; Plently of Custom orders (shoes, sculpture, etc.), Several paintings, and uncountable leviathans coming into life around me. As if the grunt work of working my magic all over materials wasn’t enough, I’ve also got many meetings with entrepreneurs in the area, and many collaboratioons with local buisness to keep the Earth looking nice and bright.

I’m pretty much booked for the year.             Nice.

It may just be the Geek in me, and my unquenchable passion for aesthetically pleasing dates, but 2010 is seriously the most kick ass year yet.
