It’s Show Time!

All right my faithful friends and fans……the countdown is finally upon us!

I’m sure many if not all of you have noticed I’ve been slaving away for this weekends “People’s Art Festival” @ the Russel Industrial center. This will be my 4th and final show this month, and….that being said, I was slammed the past 2 weeks to rebuild stock! There have been many developments in the work, and the new beginnings of some interesting  techniques and tools have been added to my creature arsenal.

Things to Look forward to in Sept.

~Slime…LOTS and LOTS of slime!

~Seaweed, slick, and water effects

~Dioramas and Enviromental evolution

~Continuation of larval and egg stage development

And Lastly…….. My items in many local galleries and stores! (So you can snatch up my goodies anytime of day.) Little “Wearable: Monster Fashion” stands should be popping up in full bloom, and mini “Creature Features” will make themselves at heard around the Detroitscape. Of course I will update as these projects make their appearances, just make sure you stay tuned in!

Here are some much anticipated “Kingpin” teasers for this weekends Event, Trust me…..I’m fully backing “Kingpin’s” ability to bitch-slap your eyeballs. To see him is to be converted to the devotion of Squid, leave offerings as you see fit lol.

Final Stages of Development….Enter: “The Kingpin”

There are no words…..this Leviathan is ENORMOUS!!!!! (and angry)

I’ve given up more than just hours and hours of sleep for him, I’ve literally infused him with my life “essence”. I will have gray hairs for him ❤

Up Late with Kid Koala, Coffee, and a very, VERY big Kraken……

Here he is….the biggest, most elaborate, most bad-a*s Kraken to date!

He is in production now, but will be mounted and available for viewing at the Peoples Art Festival this weekend. If I were you…I’d make a trip out to see him, he may very well coil his tentacles around someone Else’s heart, and disappear into the great beyond!

Overall size in final stage will be 24″ in length, 10″ wide and standing just over 6″ tall…..Wowsa!

Creature Feature: Hells Minion Study #1

Finished! This super creepy curiosity is, well, really creepy. Even got to me a little…which says a lot!

he measures just over 5″ in diameter at the base, 8.25″ inches tall, and lives safely behind this glass watch tower/glass dome. I would hate to see him go…but with my 2 year old running around being all impressionable…he sure as hell can’t live here!

HOT off the studio tables…..Available for Sale, 200$ (A steal for a true work of evil)

Look! In one photo there is even a glint of hell fire in his eye…creepy!!!!!

.experimenting with plaster, slime, and translucence.

The first four creatures for the new collection are in their pre-paint stages! It was a loooong night over here in the lab, but man, I think it was worth it.

Growing in soft medium under warm lights are the Antlered Slug, the Devilishly Handsome Purple Nudibrach, Hells Minion Study #1, and the much improved Dumbo Octopus Sr. The latter has become my first attempt at mastering translucent polymer…and I believe the end product is well on it’s way to looking very realistic indeed. I have adopted a new sculpting medium for my larger works, and fret not, there are many larger scale beasts soon on their way!

Here’s some quick shots of my ever growing production line…or should I say…creature experiments!

Blown Away. Red cheeked. Bushy Tailed Me.

What began as a singular experiment involving sculpey, paint, and a cycloptic creature from a dream..has now officially developed into my greatest artistic experiment to date. The public reception to my humble memgarie has been overwhelming, with collectors appearing out of every circle, and a river of wide eyed stares appearing at my booths over the length of the summer. It’s really something truly flattering and amazing.

I’m sure everyone has moments in there lives that have a marked sensation of unreal. They can be as mundane as discovering a missing center piece to a puzzle 2 months after you’ve given up completion, or as overwhelming as the moment you seal the deal with a spouse or hold your first born child. In fact, I venture to say we have all experienced these moments, frequently if we are lucky. Now I don’t know what actally caused the planets to align in just the right way to allow this moment to happen…but I got mine 3 days ago at the Theatre Bizarre’s: Bizarre Bazzar. Let’s just say as I handed over the bulk of my artistic creations, I felt a certain said out of bodyness. Never before have I ever given so many of my personal thoughts, dreams, and aspirations in the form of clay to others I barely know. It was beautiful and I can’t thank you all enough for it.

Allright, enough of that heart warming rant..let’s talk about the goods!

My first line of “Show” pieces have all found new homes. If you check my Etsy site you will see the majority of previously listed works are gone. This is Eden in my studio! The new open spaces are just screaming to expel new monsters and my funds to fuel new experimental projects has materialized! Blue prints and Prto types have been completed for the upcoming Peoples Art Festival (August 28-29th) and it looks like there will be an excess of 10 new pieces, all priced to sell, and everyone has taken a huge evolutionary step from their predecessors. I started my coffee intravenous drip…and now it is truly Crunch Time.

I will be updating frequently the development of these projects so everyone has the chance to experience the chaos, lol, and I will be taking deposits on the larger items as they go to show- on the condition that I can torment my crowds with it!

Moving into the month of September there will be a showing at the Detroit Comics store front, the “Anti-quarium” will be expanding into a few choice local retail locations, and some very exciting taxidermy commisions will be released. I do plan to do some much needed “Putting of the feet up”, but some new techniques and experimental materials have got me biting at my nails to show them off. Damn you polarized impulses.

In a nutshell….stay tuned much appreciated friends and fans….there has never been a more progressive moment in my life (and I want very much to share it with you) ❤

Oh, and my Etsy is scheduled to be restocked following the close of August. Until then, just check back here for updates and feel free to drop me comments with your questions or requests!
