So as you may expect, I have nothing but praise for this up and coming bi-annual craft collective! The crowd throughout the event was steady and friendly, the drinks delcious, and the ambiance very attractive. Saw a few familiar favorites and indulged in many of the vendors wares- tapping into my own earnings for money very well spent. I am proud of my newest additions to my collection, and Im proud to say many of my own creations found new homes to enchant as well.
Some vendors of particular interest to me were the illuminated and utterly fantastic, robots of Tin Angry Men. Artist Cre Fuller utilizes spare industrial guts, coffee machines and tinted glass parts, electrical strands of touch lamp goodness, and a creative style to pull it all together. It is truly an honor to exhibit with him; not only does our work compliment each others beautifully, he draws quite the wide-eyed crowd with ease. πŸ˜‰ Also featured were many textile and paper artists; Sherri of Sparklepants Industrys had for sale some wonderful shadow framed paper scenes with pinwheels, birds, and the essential soul of the modern craft movement. Her works hang like contained little peaceful moments, of which most should strive to hold dear!
Recycled licence plates chopped into phrases and custom adornments, skillfully painted ceramic vessels, and another crowd favorite-recycled jars and collected glass containers fabulously lit up the fair with golden bulbs and chandelier grace. It was a sight indeed.

The DIYpsi event will appear again in December, so should you like to see these vendors in person ag as in (and many others) I suggest you pay the cultural hub of ypsilsnti a visit πŸ˜‰

Thanks everyone for a great show!

~Next on my schedule of Detroit sightings is my inclusion in the Rust Belt Markets “Dream Cruis weekend”. While not hosting any official DC promotion, the market is located squarely on 9 mile and Woodward Ave, and should draw a tremendous crowd. The space will be abnormally packed with some of the areas hottest artists, so I encourage all you culture junkies looking to get your hands dirty this weekend-dont miss out on this fantastic event!

Below is a promotional piece available for sale this weekend. Titled “Savaged Beast”, this piece illustrates the violent nature of sex and passionate love, highlighting a brilliant colored prehistoric mollusk-still twisted up in the severed arms of its latest lover. I am very fond of this creatures eyes…the golden brown richness and sultry glare pull the viewer in for closer look. This piece will be available at the special price of 175$ and as always, is sold ready to hang or sit and is signed with my signature smoking mushroom symbol.
The brand BRAND new work for this weekends excitment are really going to turn heads! A pair of pop-trophy heads mounted atop show-stopping electric painted plaques, this duo of cornial carnage will take center stage at my table, so be sure to act fast if you intend to add these coveted pieces to your collection! There is a teaser image of the painted bases, I may be coaxed into revealing the creaturess before the show…but no promises!

Stay Tuned-and enjoy the show……!

As my system of organization continues to grow, so does the transition from idea to reality become easier for me. The equivilant to a restaurant with ideas coming in quick and steady, orders scribbled on note pads with almost illegible ink, and always with loud children and chattering strangers in the distance. My job is to stand tall in the kitchen and collect the materials, test the quality, then execute the goods! I like things to be fresh and fast…pretending Im a one woman army of great dishes and steamy piles of…oh wait, …….I mean..”finished” works of art. πŸ˜‰

*ding ding*

That being said, here is tonights order! First up is the radial echinoderm mutanty thing. This work-in-progress is designed to appear stuck to the wall, with a blazing spiral eyeball to hypnotize. Its writhing, whirling, tentacles will whip around in a bloom of incredible color for maximum coolness. Not sure what colors I’ll go with on this one…but I have an idea.
Second in line and surely my wrap up for the evening, is the mighty mouse duo. Well, not really mighty mice persay, let’s go with theΒ mice and cups duo. Real mice, real china tea cups.
Now I know many of my fans are curious about the ethical acquisition of my taxidermy pieces, so let me just state now for the record…its squeaky clean! Well, maybe “squeak” was a poor choice of pun. But these mice for example, were my pets. Treated with love and respect, I carefully chose my gentle little creatures to spend thier lives with me in comfort. They became tame and happy, and fat and old. Mice inherintly have a high mortality rate, so what is a year or two to enjoy an animal and wait? Maybe thats wierd, but the world of taxidermy is loaded with blurry lines, and this is the best I could do!

Below are images of both projects, wish me luck on my most unpleasant aspect of creation. For the sake of art!Β Β Β Β Β Β  *yack* *wharf*

Muhaahaha!
